Join us for a heartwarming event as Afghan refugee mothers take center stage. These resilient moms will lead a captivating workshop, sharing the art of embroidery that reflects their cultural heritage.
Hosted by The Bibi Collective, the event allows participants to engage in hands-on sessions, transforming ordinary tote bags into intricate pieces of art. It's a celebration of diversity, creativity, and community, showcasing the power of storytelling through stitches.
We will embroider a choice of a zipper makeup pouch, a tote, cocktail napkins, or linen napkins available to embroider traditional and modern designs suitable for beginners.
About Bibi Collective
The Bibi Collective is a group of Afghan refugee women living in New Jersey. In Afghan culture, “Bibi” means a woman who is full of life. The women of the Bibi Collective fled Afghanistan in September 2021, leaving their homes, possessions, and most of their extended family members behind. Following their escape, the families flew to Qatar, Germany, and then Washington D.C., spending over 4 months in refugee camps. The International Rescue Commission then resettled their families in New Jersey.
