Celebrating the UN’s International Day of Happiness

Exciting news! 🎉 Today, we're celebrating the launch of the 2024 World Happiness Report, coinciding with the UN's International Day of Happiness. This year's theme of happiness for the young, the old, and everyone in between promises to offer invaluable insights into fostering well-being across all demographics.

The International Day of Happiness, proclaimed by the United Nations in 2012, underscores the universal significance of happiness and well-being in human lives. It's a reminder of the importance of inclusive, equitable, and balanced approaches to economic growth, all geared toward promoting sustainable development and the well-being of all peoples. 🌍

As governments and international organizations increasingly recognize the pivotal role of happiness in public policy objectives, it's clear that investing in conditions that support happiness is paramount. From upholding human rights to integrating well-being and environmental dimensions into policy frameworks like the Sustainable Development Goals, the path to collective happiness is paved with proactive measures and inclusive initiatives. 🌟

2024 World Happiness Report Takeaways

The United States

  • The US has fallen out of the top 20 of the World’s Happiest countries for the first time since global ranking began in 2012. Americans fell to 23rd place, down from 15th a year ago.

Youth

  • In contrast to the global trend whereby young people report higher satisfaction than adults, young Americans have reversed course reporting falling life satisfaction for the first time.

  • Globally, females start reporting lower life satisfaction than males by around age 12. This gap widens at ages 13 and 15, and the pandemic has amplified these inequalities.

Aging Population

  • Dementia is associated with reduced quality of life and lower well-being and cases are expected to increase worldwide as the global population ages.

  • Higher levels of prior well-being have been robustly associated with lower risk for future dementia, suggesting that increasing well-being may be a promising non-pharmacological approach to dementia prevention.

At Loopwell, we believe in championing happiness as a fundamental human right. Our mission is aligned with the ethos of the International Day of Happiness, as we strive to create a world where well-being knows no bounds. Join us in celebrating this special occasion, and let's continue to cultivate happiness and well-being for all! 🌿
